The game in Usultan was quite interesting. LeaderSalvadorenos (4-0) played at the court of 8th ranked Santiagueno (1-3). Salvadorenos defeated Santiagueno 79-69 on Sunday. Salvadorenos outrebounded Santiagueno 53-34 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Mali power forward Ibrahima Traore (208-2005, college: Utah) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 23 rebounds. Guard Diego Minero (187-2007) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Salvadorenos' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds and guard Baltazar Castellon (185-1993) added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Santiagueno. Salvadorenos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Metapan. Santiagueno at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Salvadorenos is looking forward to face Brujos (#6) in Izalco in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Santiagueno will have a break next round.
